The Mobilize Recovery Bus Tour and The Zone are hosting a fun-filled recovery block party on Wednesday, September 14 from 2 to 5:30 pm and we want YOU to be there! Join us for live music, inspiring speakers, giveaways, community conversations, and a bonafide Southern cookout. It’s going to be a BLAST!

Join friends, family and neighbors as we celebrate recovery and elevate the voices and stories of those impacted by Substance Use Disorder (SUD).  Help us continue to lift the stigma of substance use and mental health recovery and put a face to SUD and recovery.

Don’t forget to sign the #MobilizeRecovery bus as it rolls into The Zone, which is one of many stops on the 30-day nationwide recovery bus tour. Be a part of history and leave your mark on the bus that has already visited Las Vegas, Reno, Sacramento, Minneapolis, Wisconsin and other towns and cities!

“We want to bring the community together to educate them about addiction and recovery. We want the community at large to know the resources available to the recovery community and where they can be found and who provides them,” said Missy Owens, Executive Director of the Davis Direction Foundation.

“We want the community to see the unity in partnership with all of us who work toward making our town a safe place to recover from Substance Use Disorder.”

The Zone is an extension of the Davis Direction Foundation’s non-profit corporation that is led and governed by people in recovery, family members, friends and allies. It is a Recovery Community Organization (RCO) that mobilizes resources within and outside of the recovery community to make it possible for the recovery population to find long-term recovery. The Zone, its leaders, and members have a singular goal: enhancing the quantity and quality of support available to people seeking and experiencing long-term recovery from addiction. They meet people where they are and support all pathways to recovery. They are a member of the Association of Recovery Community Organizations (ARCO) and working toward National Certification, according to their site.

Come to The Zone to chat with national recovery advocates, meet Tom Farley (SNL’s Chris Farley’s brother) and listen to his story, learn about harm reduction, and get your FREE Narcan and naloxone to keep in your bag, car, house and first aid kit!

“Mobilize is all about ACTION!” Missy continued. “So often we talk about what needs to be done, but leave the doing to someone else. Mobilize is the piece that makes it happen.”

The mission of the Davis Direction Foundation is to fight addiction and fuel recovery while they serve as a role model in the community in order to become a national resource for opioid/heroin addiction awareness and change.

“So far, it has been amazing partnering with Mobilize,” Missy said.  “We are meeting new people and finding out about new programs that we can incorporate into our community. We can’t wait to sign the bus!”

The Block Party will be an opportunity to educate the entire community with the help of some of their greatest stakeholders, Missy said.

“It is an ideal celebration of recovery.”

The Zone is located at 32 Fairground Street in Northeast, Marietta.  See you there!
